Seagulls standing on one of the small weirs on the River Torrens. Presumably they're scanning the shallow water for food.
Really interesting. Gulls always do this at a waterfall near where I live and I've always wondered why. I thought it might have been a pleasurable sensation for their feet, but your description makes much more sense =)
