Sunflower Morning

January 01, 2006

After several days of stinking hot weather, temperatures had reduced and fairly steady rain had set in by the morning. When I looked out the bathroom window, to watch the rain, I was greeted by this patch of sunflowers in our neighbour's back garden. (They are only visible when I stand about two inches higher than normal, so they've sort-of snuck up on me.)

I'm not sure if they had been confused by the rain and cloud cover, but several hours after sunrise, they still hadn't turned to face the sun (at this point they were 90 degrees away from the direction of the sun.)
