Wool District

May 15, 2005

Today I took a walk around what I've dubbed the Wool District in Port Adelaide. (The Toronto guys have their Distillery District, why can't we have a Wool District).

It's about two blocks, in each direction, of abandoned wool stores, dating from a time when they would have been a stopping point for Australian wool on the way to the rest of the world. Now, most of them have for-sale signs on them. I imagine that, if I go back there in 18 months, I'll find lots of up-market apartments.

Details: Nikon 18-70mm, 18mm, f/8, 1/125s, ISO 200, reduced saturation on reds.
